HUPAC vs. State PACs

HUPAC, a federal PAC, is the political action committee of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU). Donations to state PACs are not donations to HUPAC as they are separate entities.

HUPAC, a federal PAC, is the political action committee of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU). HUPAC is registered with the Federal Election Commission

Historically NAHU legislative efforts have included educating legislators about specific issues through office visits by core constituents, NAHU staff and lobbyists, letters of support or opposition to legislation, appearances at hearings and public meetings, and similar activities. Though these activities are effective and will continue, HUPAC buttresses these efforts.

The PAC allows NAHU to support candidates and elected officials who champion policies important to the our industry and consistent with its mission and goals, and officials who hold key legislative positions affecting legislation in which the NAHU is interested.

While federal support is the sole focus of HUPAC, many NAHU state chapters have established state PACs to support statewide candidates in their general assembly or delegation. Donations to those state PACs ARE NOT donations to HUPAC as they are separate entities.

Contributing to non-federal/state PAC can be tricky. The limits are different in all 50 states. Some states have blackout periods during which you cannot make contributions. Some states are very restrictive about how (or whether) your Political Action Committee (PAC) or organization can contribute to candidates running for state and local office. These are all questions for the Secretary of State or the Board of Elections in each state.
